Frequently asked questions

How much abrasion resistance should tiles have for malls?

What is the difference between outside and inside tiles?

Though durable, indoor tiles are not made to handle damage due to factors such as frost and direct sunlight. On the other hand, outdoor tiles have the ability to handle these adverse conditions and more. Outdoor tiles also often have a texture on their surface that gives them anti-skid properties. Some special outdoor tiles have a slightly gritty surface which provides excellent traction if the surface gets wet. Outdoor tiles need to be able to withstand wear and tear, so they look more rugged and rustic. They also have a tougher glaze than indoor tiles.

How to clean heavy duty tiles?

Heavy duty tiles should ideally be cleaned using an alkaline-based cleaner (high pH, non-acidic). Use a white nylon scrub pad and a clean water rinse. Poultice may be used in combination with an appropriate cleaner to restore seriously worn out areas. Poultice is an extremely fine powder that serves as a mild abrasive and does not cause scratching to even the most delicate glazed tiles and polished marble surfaces. Unglazed tiles can be treated in the same manner as glazed tiles when heavy-duty cleaning is required. Once the tile has been effectively restored and is dry, the appropriate sealer should be applied to protect from staining and ease regular maintenance.
